March 2013 Entry

- I did want to type this out yesterday, but I chose to avoid people thinking it was an April Fools' type situation. I think one item of news I put out there was brushed off as such since I posted about it around April 1st.

- So I'm no longer part of Royal Flush Media. I sent an email to the other top guys in the company letting them know that March 31st was the last day since a few more TGF videos were still branded with the RFM logo (too much work to replace the logo). I had been pondering my departure for quite some time. I even thought if I should just solely take the company and just be the one running it, which I kind of was. But the lack of support from family and friends in terms of promoting me and saying anything about my work showed no one really cared. I even ran an experiment for a little less than a month where I stopped posting videos and photos regularly under the RFM accounts and no one said anything or they didn't notice at all. Those reasons and a plethora more lead me to just leaving altogether. And in doing so the other top guy decided to leave. That leaves one and I don't even know if he read the email and knows what is going on. So whether he keeps it alive or kills it off is now all on him. Right now it's just stagnant and exists. Not my problem anymore.

4-5 years of RFM lead to almost nothing for me and personally cost me a lot of money that I never made back. I am so glad that I don't have this holding me back and causing me unnecessary stress. Thank you to those that did support me in some fashion.

- I am now fully committed to The Game Fanatics. We're still on break from the podcast, but we're still active as a community. All episodes of The Game Fanatics Show are on YouTube and I've got some shorter videos scheduled to post throughout April as well as plans for future tech reviews. And I keep saying that big things are to come. Seriously, stick with us, stick with me on this. The Game Fanatics has been more beneficial to me in less than a year more so than RFM ever was.

- Sonic Unleashed (Wii);  3 out of 5
Not as bad as people have made it out to be, but definitely not the best 3D Sonic game. Being the Werehog wasn't that bad, but it was a silly concept.

- BIT.TRIP Prestents...Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (Wii U eShop); 5 out of 5
Such a solid and simple game with the tightest of controls that anyone can play. Try the demo (multiple platforms) if you're not sure, but I highly recommend it.

- Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS);  4 out of 5
(a portion of somewhat review) All around great with excellent gameplay and creative bosses and puzzles. The game is full of charm just like the original on the Gamecube. The environments are lively (for being haunted), all the ghosts are full of life (despite being ghosts), E. Gadd is witty, the Toads were adorable, and Luigi's personality shines throughout. Definitely recommend it especially if you enjoyed Luigi's first first trip to a mansion.

- All 10 episodes of WingedVoX Revolution are out. I am a little surprised with the amount of views I receiving zero new subscriptions after promoting it on Facebook and Twitter. Although some videos got way less views, I am happy that the series got a decent amount of views. The 4th one got the most views (46). The extras in the end sadly got the least love.

I did start a new Twitter photo series for April, What I'm Watching. Follow my WingedVoX account to see them. https://twitter.com/WingedVoX

And a new series of WingedVoX Adventures has been completed and those will start airing May 7th.

- I've been getting back to watching anime. Although most of them are rewatches of favorites, it has been years since I saw them. They do bring up some great memories.

It all started with wanting to rewatch The Maxx. I know it's not really anime, but it was a short series I really enjoyed watching on MTV when it first aired. I still enjoy it. The noire style of storytelling and the animation style really stood out to me back then and I can see why. From there I went on to rewatch Aeon Flux. Why I'm not more messed up because of that is shocking, ha.

Then I started to hunt for older anime that I had watched and picked up a few new ones I heard were good. I ended up watching some Street Fighter anime movies I never knew were made. I can't recommend Street Fighter Alpha: The Animation (2 out of 5) and Street Fighter Alpha: Generations (2 out of 5). I highly recommend Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind (5 out of 5). I put it up there with Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (which I will rewatch on an off day). Oddly enough, the 3 movies I just watched all dealt with Ryu and his Dark Hadou/Evil powers.

All throughout April I will be watch 3 anime series. First I'll be rewatching all of the Ah! My Goddess OVA. Just hearing the opening and ending theme brings back fond memories and just makes me smile. After those 5 episodes are done, I will move on and watch Highschool of The Dead. Then I will watch all of Claymore. Never saw either of those series, but I hear good things about them. I'll be watch one a day until I get to Claymore, which I will watch 2 a day so that way April is full of anime.

- Speaking of anime, Anime Matsuri happened. Many people do not know this, but I was approached by them to put together a Kpop flash mob and perform. I turned them down almost immediately. I talked to a really close friend who used to be part of the Anime Matsuri team and was enlightened on a few things. My friend's input really cemented it for me. Plus putting together a flash mob is stressful and seeing as I got little to nothing from doing 3 in the past, I wasn't really excited to do it. I do realize the opportunities I missed out on. Waveya and Yaya Han were both at Anime Matsuri and I would have actually asked them to be part of it if possible (and other guests if they were able to). I am a fan of both Waveya and Yaya, but I also have an extreme loyalty to my friend (who is also a big Yaya fan) and I could not accept.

- ...AND I MADE THIS VIDEO FOR VAMPY!

"that's so sweet ^_^"

Take care.

February 2013 Entry

- February is over. I really didn't do too much in some aspects and I did a lot in other. A lot of it was spent at home in the realm of video editing. I do recall trying to explain it to some people that don't know how to edit videos and I'm not sure they understood. Bottom line, it can be a long process. You'll see where all that time was spent later in this entry.

- A friend's sister (so my friend also) opened up a new crawfish eatery on the 8th. I went on opening day and they had a rough time. Opening day woes. They did have a dragon dance ceremony since it was close to the Lunar New Year. The food is great. I've been there a few times and things are better and the food was always good. So if you're in the Houston area, go visit Crawfish Cafe next to Ocean Palace on Bellaire.

- I've actually gotten back into gaming. I think the last couple years I felt I wasn't playing games as much as I used to. Now I'm seeing myself playing more than usual whether it's actual games or demos. It's probably the influence of The Game Fanatics. Ever since being involved with them, I'm just more in tune to my gaming roots. That's a good thing.

The Cave (WiiU) is a very interesting game. 4 out of 5. A simple adventure game with a great sense of humor about people trying to get of a cave. It has great replay value as you learn why each person is in the cave to begin with. I beat the game for the first time on the 5th and then completed it 100% on the 8th. I recommend this game to anyone (it's on multiple platforms).

I forgot to mention that I beat Sonic Generations (3DS) last month. Another Sonic game I beat was Sonic & The Black Knight. 2 out of 5. The sword concept was not done well and that's the main focus of the game. I would actually say it's the worst 3D Sonic game I've played. If you skipped this game, you made a good choice.

One great moment in my gaming history happened on the 22nd. The Legend of Zelda has to be my favorite game series. There are only a few games that I haven't played and beat, but I was able to knock one off that list. I beat Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (3DS VC). That was a tough challenge, but I did it and I'm proud. I will say this, if it wasn't for the restore points that the 3DS allows, I wouldn't have been able to complete it. That just leaves 3 Zelda titles to beat and 2 are being released on the Virtual Console soon.

- So other than playing games, I'm producing and editing videos about games. Yes, The Game Fanatics Show is still going strong. We filmed and uploaded the last 3 episodes of the season this month. We ended with a bang on the PS4 announcement. We're taking a short break for now before we come back with more for season 3. Trust me, you'll want to keep track of us because...yeah, big things, yo.

Unfortunately there is a little bad news in regards to The Game Fanatics. The show I created, The Super Game Fanatics, is on hiatus. We were actually going to film 2 new episodes on the 24th, but our capture device has crapped out. We tried for hours trying to get it to work and I even tried later that same day at home just in case. It's dying out and has become useless. So until we get a new one, no new episodes. Sorry. You can always go back and watch the 3 episodes we have so far.

Thinking about it, The Game Fanatics Show alone, I've produced about 10 hours of video. If you combine The Super Game Fanatics and all the other shorter videos, it's probably close to 12 hours. That's nuts. I hope you've watched some of it.

- WingedVoX Revolution is wrapping up. There were a total of 7 main ones and now I'm showing the extras. I hope people have been watching this because this was a very big thing that happened in my life that I didn't tell a lot of people (or some had forgotten about it). There are 2 more episodes left to be released in March. After that, I'll go on break and do a photo month for April before doing another WingedVoX Adventures series. Yeah, I plan stuff out way in advance, ha. So catch up on WingedVoX Revolution when you get a chance. Most of the videos are relatively short.

- And that should be all. I did do other things other than stay cooped in my room editing and uploading and playing games so don't worry. I got out when I needed to, ha. And as usual, most of the stuff I talked about here is online. It's all for the public to see minus the personal stuff.

Thank you for reading. Be healthy, be safe, be thankful, and be loved.

Take care.

January 2013 Entry

One month of 2013 is done. It felt fast to me and I honestly can't remember too much of what I did in January. Going to try things a little different this month/year.

- I caught up with certain people this month including a high school friend who was in town from Korea for a couple weeks. It was good.

- I attended RAW on January 14th. Saw my first cage match in person as well as see The Rock live and in attendance. And speaking of wrestling, the Royal Rumble was a great PPV. I was 50/50 on predictions.

- Soundbox had their 3rd birthday bash on the 19th. Ended up doing some RFM video/photo work. It was great seeing some familiar faces I had not seen in a long time as well as enjoy watching some incredibly talented dancers grace the stage. Check out performances from that show (especially CAKES, LunchBox, Laddy Rascals, and Riot Squad).

- Tons of work for The Game Fanatics. I actually think this is where the majority of my time has gone. Filming, editing, sometimes being on camera, uploading, etc. It really does take a large chunk of time. I've been in the process of uploading our older episodes of The Game Fanatics Show onto YouTube and since they're uncompressed, they take 3-5 hours to upload. But anytime I upload anything, I take that time to catch up on stuff. They keep me busy, but the results have been worth it more so than before. We've come a long way.

- I manged to complete watching the entire original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. I forgot a lot of stuff that happened like the first half of season 7 being entirely in Europe. My opinion about the series changed now that I'm older. At first I didn't like it when the series changed at season 8. Rewatching it now, seasons 8-10 were pretty good. Those seasons and season 1 had the most action while 2-7 were more cheesy. I still enjoyed those, but I preferred the ones with more action.

- Goku VS Superman happened. My choice didn't win, but during the fight I kept thinking "but it's *****." Avoiding spoilers in case you haven't seen it yet. But overall entertaining.

- Speaking of Superman/comics, The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 was incredible. And Superman: Unbound is looking to be good. Can't wait for that.

- And I'm still doing stuff with the WingedVoX name. We're 4 episodes deep with "WingedVoX Revolution," my one week in the Korean music industry. It's a series of home videos I took during that time when I won a music contest and had the opportunity to make a song and music video. That happened 9-10 years ago and barely showed any of these videos to anyone. So please check them out.

- And I think that's it for this month. It's not too difficult to know what I've been up to since I do put a lot of it online (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter). So if you aren't connected to me through various sources of social media for Royal Flush Media, The Game Fanatics, WingedVoX, or my personal accounts then you're missing a lot. Support me because I'm going to keep doing these things and possibly a lot more as this year progresses.

Thank you for reading. Be healthy, be safe, be thankful, and be loved.

Take care.

December 2012 Entry

"No resolutions. Just goals." That was the quote I started 2012 with. Unfortunately a lot of things happened that prevented almost all of my goals from being achieved. Personal problems, business problems, and other things just kept happening one after the other. The main thing was health problems because they almost factored into everything.

Initially I was going to write a longer entry detailing these stresses and frustrations (I just deleted 2 paragraphs and there was more that could have been written), but I think the sooner I leave 2012 behind me, the better.

There are 2 things I am thankful for that did make me smile and kept me going through the year; Vampy and The Game Fanatics. Vampy is an incredible inspiration and she puts a smile on my face with her tweets, videos, and things she has signed personally for me. I do hope to meet her some day. The Game Fanatics was what I needed to keep my video producing going. If it weren't for them I would have had less to do and my editing/producing skills would not have improved at all. And they properly motivate me, give me recognition on my skills, and are very ambitious with what they want to do and achieve. I'm thankful that I'm now a part of that ride.

Of course there are other people that were there for me. I think I've expressed my appreciation for them in person. If I haven't, then maybe next time we meet.

I am so glad 2013 is here because I was looking forward to so many things that are already in place to happen. Win or lose, these things need to be done. Evolve for the better.

2013 is the retry of 2012. "No resolutions. Just goals."

Thank you for reading. Be healthy, be safe, be thankful, and be loved.

November 2012 Entry

I'll apologize now for the negative attitude I'm having while typing this. This is late and it's going to be short. I've been pretty busy and a lot has been happening and were it not for what happened yesterday, I'd probably still have the energy to care about writing what happened in November. All I can really think of that happened was the flash mob and the WiiU launch. I know other things happened, but those 2 stick out and I would just complain because those were both stressful.

And then there's the usual plugs. I know a lot of people don't read this blog, but if you do and you haven't bothered to support me in Royal Flush Media, WingedVoX, or The Game Fanatics then you never will for whatever reason you have that you won't bother to tell me. Thank you to those that do because I really do appreciate it.

I might not do a post about 2012 when the year is over because it sucked almost all year round. If I do, I'll only talk about the highlights which were few and far in between.

Thank you for reading. I apologize again for the negativity. Be healthy, be thankful, be loved, and be safe.

Take care.
