September 2017 Entry

September 2017 Entry

Sorry for the late update. Things have been busy.

=========================

- Thanks to those that remembered. I went out with a friend to Kula Sushi (09.02). It's a conveyor belt sushi place. A friend works there, but she wasn't there that day. After that, we went to a nearby Target to walk and talk (a place with nice a/c) before I went to be bold.

- I went to the dentist for the first time in many years (09.06). Yeah...I don't recall the last time I've had a dentist appointment. Funny enough, one of my aunts was leaving when I arrived so I know how I was recommended the place, ha. This was very nostalgic. All the sounds, tools (although there are some cool new ones now), the feeling of pain, etc. I used to want to be a dentist when growing up since I used to visit them a lot. The deep clean felt good, but I was a little loopy and tired afterwards. I will be returning in December to fix one of my molars. Then another future date will be set to fix one of my crowns.

- Shredder VS Silver Samurai - Death Battle

- My preorders for the SNSD and Jessica albums (10th anniversary for both) arrived (09.09).

- Bought a copy of Batman and Harley Quinn (09.09). Didn't like it that much. A little too humorous than I would have liked. Not only that, I learned that my blu-ray player program doesn't work anymore (can't update it for some reason). The laptop lasted for a good 6+ years.

- The Mae Young Classic finished (09.12). My pick won. And it's awesome that I will get to see her compete for the vacant NXT Women's Championship at the next TakeOver. Overall, the tournament was amazing. I do hope some of these women get picked up by WWE and are showcased properly. It would be good to add more to all of the women divisions.

- Saw someone post the trailer for the Ranma 1/2 OVA & Movie Collection (09.30). I had no idea about it. It is definitely on my wish list. The current plan is to order it for a Christmas present to myself.

=========================

- Game Theory: How Zelda Breath of the Wild SOLVES The Zelda Timeline!

- While I beat Sonic Mania with Sonic back at the end of August, I wasn't sure if I was going to bother playing the other character campaigns or not. But I had a lot of extra free time so I decided to do so (09.10). I beat the game with Knuckles and then Tails and collected all the Chaos Emeralds for both.

- Nintendo Direct (09.13)

- I purchased Metroid: Samus Returns along with the amiibo that were tied to it (09.15). I unfortunately lost the key chain 24 hours later. Some stuff fell off my desk and it launched the key chain into a pile of other stuff that I did not bother looking through. I didn't play the game until the 18th and I beat the game early October. You can read about it in next month's entry.

- While out on a Sunday, I decided to go to Dave & Busters to kill time (09.17). DDRA was up and working so I played 3 songs. The photo you see posted was from my second song. I don't normally full combo a song so I was surprised.

Afterwards, I was bold again.

- Game Sleuth: Secret Enemy Fight in Final Fantasy VII?

=========================

- HER finally reopened (09.02). The word that went around for a while was "normalcy" and it was good to see that we were all getting back to it.

- Another new silly video; What Not To Do Around Your TV (09.03).

- Our first monthly meeting after Harvey took place (09.05). The main frustration was picking up the food as it took 2 hours. Thankfully Agent Widdershins came along with me as I would have been highly upset had I gone alone. But it was a fun meeting. There was a lot of video sharing afterwards with one featuring Agent Striker being the highlight.

- We finally announced that we had been working with Rice University in an effort to create internships for creating escape rooms. The downside to that was that Agent Coda had to resign from the company due to conflict of interest (09.06). We knew that it was a high possibility, but it was official. The thing is, it's a great opportunity for her and HER. We threw her a surprise going away party at work. She won't be a stranger, but she will be missed.

- Our planned activity for our company meeting was to go to Honey Art Cafe for a painting session. They emailed us in August to do a trade for them coming to HER. Due to Hurricane Harvey, we had to delay things. But we finally went to do it (09.12). The one thing I mention to the staff is that at first we were all being normal and joking around. But there was a point where everyone was quiet and concentrating on their creations. I'm glad that everyone enjoyed themselves.

- Soon after Agent Coda left us, Agent Ca$h also had to announce her leave from the company. The hurricane wasn't too kind on her so decision had to be made (not to go into the details). We threw her a surprise farewell party a few days before her final day. I missed that unfortunately due to being sick, but made sure to be there for her last day (09.22). Similarly to Agent Coda, she will not be a stranger and she will be missed.

- And September's blog was written by Agent Oculus.

=========================

- Yoona - When The Wind Blows (MV)

- My mom had emergency heart surgery (09.11). Initially, she had planned to have it in December, but she went to get a second opinion and get a check up. The doctors then said she needed to have it at that moment. I knew something was wrong as she and my dad were still gone from the check up that was early in the morning. I called and my dad filled me in on things before she was going in to surgery. While I wanted to go there, he told to stay home. Hours later, he called and let me know the surgery was successful. There were some complications, but she pulled through. She would be out of it that night so dad came home to prepare things and rest.

The next morning, I went with my dad to visit. The first image I saw of her was in bed with so many machines, wires, and tubes connected to her and it was hard to bare. Even though things were fine, I broke down. I asked the nurse on hand to just explain everything so I could know. When she was awake, it was tough communicating with her as she couldn't talk and it was hard to read her handwriting. Plus when she groaned and moaned in pain or if the machines started beeping, I would immediately worry.

After that first visit, I went to work. That's how it was for the couple of weeks she was in the hospital. I went to visit her early, I went to work, and I went home. On my days off, I would swap with my dad so he can go home, wash up, cook, and do anything else he needed to while I was watching mom in the hospital. He was doing all that he could for her and I can't imagine the toll it put on him and how he felt. I was low on energy, lost lots of sleep, and even got sick during this time. I did let management know what was going on (not the full details at first) in case I had to not go in to work and they were understanding. Slowly I had been telling other coworkers. No one could tell anything was wrong while I was at work though. I actually haven't told a lot of friends yet either. Just kept it to myself.

The great thing was that my mom improved as the days went by. Originally, I was going to be very detailed about each day, but that is a lot to relive. Just know that there were troubles each day, but like I mentioned, she got better each day. Tubes, wires, and machines were removed, she was able to talk like normal and be more active, and more good things.

A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses that helped her. Especially to Nurse Bridgette as she was my mom's and my favorite nurse that she had.

Mom did stay longer than anticipated as her heart beat wasn't returning to normal without the help of machines. She did have a pacemaker installed in the end. Coincidentally, she was able to finally come home on my dad's birthday and was home on her birthday days later. She has been getting better and stronger day by day. I will give updates in future posts for sure. As for now, she is home and recovering and is doing okay.

- That's all for September. Thank you for reading.
