April 2018 Entry

April 2018 Entry

April felt long. That might be due to having more free time.

=========================

- Went to my cousin's for Easter and a gender reveal (04.01). Congratulations to her for bringing another boy to the family in the near future. At some point, I did drop my phone and the screen protector got cracked. I thought it was the actual screen, but that goes to show how good the screen protector is. At some point, my cousins and I did play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe outside. It was like we were an actual Switch commercial, ha. Ended the day with some of us watching Civil War.

- Ordered Jolly Rancher sodas and tried one each Sunday in April (04.04). They really taste like the candy. A little strong too so it would actually take me all day to finish one. I recommend it for anyone that likes the candy.

- Got NXT tickets for a house show (04.05). Can't wait for them to come to town on May 20th. Front row for the second time ever. The first time was many years ago for a RAW house show.

- Caught up on NXT: TakeOver New Orleans the following day (04.07). Wow, it was so damn good. Got 4 out of 5 predictions correct.

- Wrestlemania 34 was fun (04.08). Only got 2 out of 14 predictions correct, but a lot of moments happened. Went to a friend's place to watch it with others. That was okay. I actually liked it when there were less of a crowd and not having the majority not know what's happening or just making jokes and perving out. I still enjoyed the show though.

- The RAW and Smackdown after Wrestlemania as well as the Superstar Shake Up the week after were great. Lots of call ups and surprises all around. In particular, the debut of The IIconics and Carmella cashing were awesome to witness.

- Death Battle (04.11)

- Got RAW tickets (04.12). They are coming June 4th for a live taping. Some cool stuff has always happened on live RAW Houston shows. Can't wait.

- After missing out on my first Japan Festival in over a decade last year, I was excited to go this year (04.15). Kept with my tradition of going with someone that had not gone before. Originally it was going to be Agent Gig and Blue, but Gig dropped out and PQ and Majordomo got added. This one felt a little tamer than previous years. Set ups were similar, but it just seemed as if less was going on. Afterwards, we walked to Barnaby's (original plan of Dak N Bap didn't happen since they were closed). Not a bad place, but nothing I would recommend as a must visit. We all parted ways after that.

high school friend had texted earlier that he was in town. I called him as I was going home to see if we can meet. We made plans to meet after I was done at Best Buy buying the latest DC animated movie. I drove over to his place and was immediately greeted by his wife and son. His son was the most energetic I had ever seen. He said "hi" and high-fived me almost immediately. We briefly caught up as they were getting ready to head back home to San Antonio. He gave me his Super Famicom system as a gift. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to hang out (already promised his son we'll play games together).

- Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay was good (04.16). I expected the death count and violence to be high, but they didn't hold back. Definitely recommend this unless you're not big on violence. Looking forward to "The Death of Superman."

- New wrestling shirts (04.17). These will be worn to the next shows I go to.

- And ever since Wrestlemania, I have started to refer to Shinsuke Nakamura as Evil Nakamura. He's awesome as a heel. And his new theme, wonderful (04.24).

- And with great coincidence, I took a day off of work and was able to watch the Greatest Royal Rumble live as it aired. It was a fun show with great matches.

That wasn't the reason I took the day off though. A friend invited me to join his Connect group to watch Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 (04.27). That movie was incredible. I expected a few things that did happen, but was still surprised with how they happened. Can't wait to see Part 2 next year.

=========================

- I was always curious about Thumper. It was a rhythm game and it looked different, but for some reason I didn't download it right away. Since I had a small lull before the next game I was going to get, I decided to finally get it and it happened to be the final day it was discounted (04.04). Man, this was intense. One of the tougher rhythm games I can recall playing. There were a few tracks that took me many tries to beat. But the toughest for me was the final boss for level 6. Spent over an hour of repeated tries on this one. Overall, the game made my wrist and most of my right arm hurt (I guess I held the buttons down really hard or something). Needed to take breaks and ice myself off at night. But I did beat the game (04.11). Felt very accomplished in doing so. If you like a challenging rhythm game, I recommend this.

- Mega Man X Legacy Collection was announced (04.10). Can't wait to get this. I've only played the first four X games. I'll finally get a chance to play X5-X8 for the first time.

- Picked up Wild Guns Reloaded (04.17). Didn't get to play it right away, but I did play it and beat it the next day. And when I beat it, it was only on Normal and with tons of continues. Definitely took advantage of the the Switch's sleep function to keep my progress. The game was difficult, but fun just like the original. I would like to play it with others some time to see how chaotic a 4-player game can be. I recommend this one for fans of the original and those that enjoy action shooter games of that era.

- For some reason, I thought Shantae on the Switch would come out in April. I realized it wasn't as the date came closer. So I had another lull in my gaming time. So I downloaded another game I had on my wish list, Mom Hid My Game! (04.25). I knew of it from when Game Grumps played it. I knew it would be short and simple. I only needed to use a hint 3 times throughout the game. And I did take time to get 100% on the mini-game that was available afterwards. I definitely can say that I completed this game. Recommended for those looking for a cheap and short puzzle/escape room type game.

- And since Shantae is coming out in May, my gaming lull was still around. Instead of buying a new game, I checked my backlog and realized I did not finish the Ace Attorney Trilogy. So I started the game from where I left off (04.25). I was on Day 3 of investigations of the final case and finished it about 4 years later. I thought I would just fast-forward through everything, but I was immediately sucked back into that world and wanted to read everything.

And then I started Justice For All the next day (04.26).

=========================

April Company Meeting (04.03). This was actually the first one in a long time that I didn't lead a meeting. Felt nice.

The meeting was unfortunately rushed as we had scheduled to do an escape room at a new place called PanIQ. A few of the Agents did one of their rooms already so we made sure they did the horror themed one. I was part of the team that did the western themed room. We had fun and destroyed it with the new record. As for the business itself...eh. The rooms were great in design and puzzles, but the customer service was definitely lacking. Not sure if I would recommend this place to others. But this victory brought my escape room record to 18-23 with a 78.26% success rate.

- We had a Tax Day Discount campaign running this month (04.17). It was good for the weekdays on the last two weeks of April. Unfortunately, it wasn't used that much. You would think people would jump at the opportunity to save on anything. Oh well. Maybe next time.

- A really cool thing that happened for the company was that we became part of the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce. They came by for a Ribbon Cutting event (04.18). I wasn't scheduled to work that day, but drove in for it. A few of us were expecting more people to show up as it was basically an open-house type of event, but it was better than no one showing up. I left after it was over.

Agent X had his final day at HER (04.27). He is now a full-fledged doctor. We knew he'd be leaving at some point so we were very supportive and proud of him. I was off on his final day so I made sure to get him something nice the Saturday prior, which was the last day I would see him at work. But we definitely will keep in touch and make plans to hang out in the near future.

- And our April blog was typed up by Agent Gig (04.30). Record breakers, new location, and more were topics of interest. Go check it out.
