April 2013 Entry

- April was a busy month.

- I did fulfill my Anime April goal. I watched Ah! My Goddess OVA (still a great and heart warming series), Highschool of The Dead (it was alright, pretty much what I expected from a zombie series, mainly enjoyed the over the top boob stuff), and Claymore (a lot of good action, I honestly didn't think I'd like it that much, but I was surprised).

I did collect some more old anime I had already seen and got a few suggestions for other series I've never seen. So I think I'll do Anime August. I'll try for another 3 series again. One will be the 2011 Thundercats series. I watched some of it when they started, but forgot to keep up. Don't know what the other 2 will be yet.

- I watched the movie Oblivion with Tom Cruise. Yeah...2 out of 5. It started off super slow and was very predictable to me. I did like how it ended up though, but I highly advise against going to see it. Wasn't my idea to see it, but the rest of the day was good.

- Played quite a bit of games this month. Of course ever since aligning with The Game Fanatics, I've been playing more games.

Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition; 5 out of 5. Definitely lived up to all the hype I had heard. I did as much as I could of that game before Injustice came out and ended up with 71% I believe. Did all the sidequests except for Harley Quinn's Revenge (since I heard there's a glitch) and the Riddler Challenge Missions. But definitely a great game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us; 4 out of 5. I really liked the story even though it was a recycled plot changed up a bit. It was fun playing online. I also enjoyed the many cameos of other DC characters (mostly seen after performing an interactive stage attack). The main thing that kept this from being a 5 for me was the S.T.A.R. Labs missions. Some were just dumb and tedious (Luthor playing "pong" with Cyborg, shooting arrows against the wind, not tripping a laser, etc). Another downside for the Wii U version is that their online isn't the best, but a patch is supposed to come out to fix things (finding friends to fight instead of hoping to randomly end up fighting them, which I did get to happen with a fellow TGF staff member). And it does suck that the Wii U won't be getting the DLC for the game. But it was a fun fighter.

I did download and play the Rayman Legends Challenges App. I don't think I'll score it since they're just small challenges akin to mobile app games, which is fine. I do go back everyday to try the new daily challenge they give. And it's free so why not.

Kirby's Adventure was this month's 30 cent Virtual Console deal. Never played it when it first came out, but I enjoyed it. It was actually a little longer than I expected, but it was a fun romp. Worth the 30 cents.

And Nintendo has officially started rolling out more Wii U VC titles and one of the first ones was Super Mario World. I skipped it on the Wii (for some unknown reason) and just had to get it this time. It's my favorite classic 2D Mario platformer. It didn't take long for me to get 96 Star (within the span of 24 hours...maybe around 4-6 hours total).

The week after that, Mega Man was released. I already had it on my Wii, but you get to "rebuy" titles you already had at a discounted price (this one being $1). In my opinion, the first Mega Man is the toughest one of all 10 classic Mega Mans.

By the way, the Miiverse is now available to view on PC/phones. So now I'm posting photos I post on Miiverse (seen above) to my WingedVoX Facebook and Twitter so those that don't have a Wii U can see things I post.

And thanks to this month's Nintendo Direct, I know a bunch of new games coming soon. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons for the 3DS (never played them), a new Link To The Past in 3D (super excited), and Earthbound for the Wii U's VC. Earthbound was a definite surprise and I'm looking forward to finally playing this much beloved game.

- The Game Fanatics, I sure did a lot of TGF stuff this month. First off, I was given 3 charging accessories from Nyko. I reviewed them and then wrote scripts for our video reviews of them. I asked friends to help. I got one to do voice-overs for all three and two to star in them. Thank you to those three. I scheduled them to go up every Friday and one came out in April. Stay tuned for the rest. I gave one to a friend who was in one of the videos and kept the other two, but am only using one of them.

And we also got to work the Texas Showdown competition this year thanks to JW. We only went to the second day and stayed there for about 10 hours. We conducted 22 interviews and I was so glad we got that many done. Thank you to everyone that took the their time to have an interview with us. Although I was disappointed that some of the bigger names didn't want to do one. "Support your community" was the biggest line someone said during their interview and I believe in that and it was a shame that the "big names" didn't want to do that for the community they're famous in. I did make 10 separate videos from this event and that's awesome. So much content. Some aren't out yet, but the majority are.

And there were a few other videos that got released this month. Go check them out if you haven't. And I've said it the last few entries, but stick with us because a lot more will be coming your way.

- I went to the Japan Festival on the 14th, the day after doing all that Texas Showdown work. Went with JR who had never gone before. This made it my 4th or 5th year in a row going and it was good going with someone who didn't know what to expect. It was also the first time I went on the final day. It really felt different as there wasn't much merchandise left and most vendors were just trying to get rid of what was left. Unfortunately I didn't see anything worth getting. It was still fun. Got to see Aya Uchida perform live.

- For the month of April, I did another month of photos. The series was called "What I'm Watching." I tried to make most of them something different from different outlets, but I know some were from the same source. I only did that a few times though.

A new WingedVoX Adventures series will start the first Tuesday of May (05.07.13) so be on the look out for that. I honestly think I might stop doing videos. Or if anything, not releasing series anymore. I might do more one-offs (Extras). It's just one thing I won't have to worry about since things are getting busier with The Game Fanatics. We'll see.

And a special congratulations to a friend who recently got married. She's in one of the WingedVoX Revolution videos. She really is one of the sweetest girls I've ever met. We spoke not too long ago and it had been years, but we gave each other words of encouragement in our work endeavors. I knew she had a longtime boyfriend, but I didn't know she was getting married. She looked lovely in her wedding dress and the guy that she married is a lucky person. Congratulations.

- Someone follows me on Twitter and I spazzed when it happened and am super happy about it. That is all. And that does it for this month's entry.

Thank you for reading. Be healthy, be safe, be thankful, and be loved.

Take care.
